1. don’t let me go, don’t make me cry my heart is frozen, my heart is wild ‘cause you will go and leave my side but I will love you till the day I die you know the roots of the tree they run down deep i lay my body down upon your feet the branches high they soar above ‘cause they are rooted deep in love chorus: and i know that i will love you till the day i die and i know that this love is forever mine and all i want is that you see me let you be and all i ask, is that you’re happy being whatever you will be 2. see peoples faces as i walk along with such contentment and such forlorn and i am learning to see your form in everyone that you adore you know the world is an ocean that lies between a lovers heart and a lovers dream this love i’m in just cant be seen but i will love you till eternity chorus: and i know that i will love you till the day i die … 3. when there’s magic, in the air it whistles through, the winds born hair the flowers dance, without a care but where’s my love, the one so fair? i see in the twinkling of your eyes that i’ve been running all my life i stop and look and see you smile please hold me near till the day i die please hold me close till the day i die please hold me now till the day i die please hold me deep till the day i die
2.
as these tender tears they fall in skies there is noone who can hear their cries except for those sweet and gentle eyes of you, my love divine oh if I could only see your smile i would be in heaven for a while and then all those passing days would fly to your arms, love divine and then when I return home and wonder ‘bout there all alone with closed eyes, in bed I lie in your arms, my love divine oh beloved you know what to say when one simple word would make my day so I try to make a lovers play with you, my love divine don’t you make me wait one whole life time when every second is a crime that you keep me ‘part from you and thine oh love, my love divine and if I would only sing your songs of a universal family to belong that would surely make us strong for you, my love divine dancing in the night rockin’ rollin’ tight dancing in the night with my love divine dancing in the night
3.
I’ve seen a ray of divine light and I wonder how it came from far into my sight and i know that i’m going to stay long time through the night till we can see a brighter day and everything will be alright and we will find a better way and in the silence of the night i hear your breath in time with mine and in the movements of the day i see you merged into suns rays and when I feel you far away you come and pierce my heart again and as you fly so high in skies your blazing light ignites mine chorus: i want to merge into your light i want to merge into the sun i want to merge into the love i want to merge into the one i’ve seen a ray of divine light and I wonder how it came a radiant golden sight with heart filled hope and lovers ways long time through the night so we can see a brighter day and everything will be alright and we will find a better way and in the beauty of your form the whole world gets transformed and in the depth of your gaze we find a way out from the maze and when I hear your wondrous laughter i am changed forever after and even if you burn my eyes i stand to behold you and I cry i want to merge into your light i want to merge into the sun i want to merge into the love i want to merge into the one Baba Nam Kevalam -repeated

no i just cant go on, nor face another dawn nor feel another thorn tear my heart no i just cant see the light when darkness is my sight even when i turn to find you please i beg you take me now don’t wait another hour for me to fall on down still further here i am yet once again alone without a friend a boat without a stone to anchor if i sing to you one time, will you remember all the lines and will you come and sit besides me oh i fear you’ve left my side, abandoned to my pride a sea with distant tides that wander then i see your rounded eyes reminding me of mine your smile the light upon your face radiating your love was so complete you said you’d never leave and don’t worry cause you’ll always be there so I’ll sing to you again cause music’s our best friend and I can feel your arms around me god I’ll try then to believe the and let you take the lead cause there’s noone but you to follow lord i beg you take me please don’t leave me on my knees don’t let me cry one moment longer i’ll try then to believe this love within me I wont worry, cause you’ll always be there Baba Nam Kevalam - repeated This kiirtan is dedicated to my loving grandfather Reginald Burton, a gentle man, whose love for music inspired me throughout my childhood. I can still see his radiant face, and remember how we would play and sing together, Grandpy on his mouth organ and I, sitting at his feet, with my ukulele. It was written while living in the Canary Islands, a place I grew to love with its vast blue skies, golden sands, beautiful mountains and very special people. It was a time of voyaging through a dark night of the soul, yet arriving with a feeling of hope and joy.

‘sometimes’ is a kiirtan song in the madhur or radha bhava style of devotion, where the love between the lover and the beloved, or Radha and Krishna is being described. It is written within the same style as the Giitagovinda (12th century), a Radha/Krishna kiirtan song, by Jayadeva. The Giitagovinda is renown in Bengal, India for its devotional cum erotic lyrics. The lover and beloved or Radha/ Krishna are the eternal lovers, both human and divine, being symbolic of our longing to merge into the Infinite. lover: “sometimes, I have to press my fingers hard against my lips for to release the longing of you to kiss you but I can never press my flower cause after it was touched by your lips and kissed so deep it didn’t belong to me anymore It belonged to you It belonged at your feet if i was to give it to another I’d have to ask the owner If s/he was free in spirit s/he just might say yes depends on what s/he considers best her own blue heart or another’s blue face pink petalled lotus blossom flower it belongs at your feet after it was touched by your lips and kissed so deep it belonged at your feet”
8.
‘oh beloved’ and ‘come beloved’ are kiirtan songs also in madhur or radha bhava , an expression of the love between the lover and the beloved, or Radha and Krishna. The lover and beloved represent the relationship of one to the divine, being of the deepest love that transcends the physical, becoming transformed into the spiritual. lover: “oh my beloved after kissing me deeply mount me” beloved: “i will give you my all your smile is my reward i will give you my love what need is there of anymore? with these small lovers attempts to send one ripple of joy to your golden lotus and when you’ve had your toy my gentle lips upon your chest cool beneath the passion beneath throw me down pin my arms beneath your palms kiss them hard brave the storm thrust your magnificent mountain into this abyss with earthquake pulsations drown me in your avalanche of bliss of happiness”

Come Beloved 04:45
lover: “come beloved make love to me, so close let not even a particle of sand can come between us come beloved make love to me so long let not even a mighty mountain be so strong, nor even time can show her face only loves hand in grace so dont you worry, don’t worry beloved dont worry about anything the world was made for this the universe was created only for this.. come beloved, come beloved come beloved, come hold me so close let not even a particle of sand can come between us come beloved come hold me so deep that not even the oceans call could be so sweet locked in eternal embrace our minds, body laced oh beloved, beloved, beloved don’t you worry about anything the world was made just for this the universe was made for your bliss and if you should come to tears my being wet with emotion would wipe away all your fears wrapped in devotion if you should shout in release my mind would explode into a million fragments of bliss of happiness, of happiness come beloved come beloved come hold me so close let not even article of sand come between us come beloved come hold me so long let not even a mighty mountain be so strong nor time show her face, only loves hand in grace”

about

Many of the songs on this album have been inspired by the kiirtan songs, both contemporary and traditional, particularly by the 12th century poet, Jayadeva, author of the Giitagovinda, Chandidas (14th century), other kirtan poets of Rarh, India and Prabhat Samgiit, Songs of the New Dawn, composed by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar (1921-1900).

Thankyou to my singers and musicians who gave their time and talents so fully to this project, my dearest friends and family for your never ending love and support, especially Michael and Sarah Lloyd for being there right through till the end, Adam Fox for his generosity, and others who have loved and believed in me, thankyou from the bottom of my heart..xxx Jyoshna
